WEB DESIGN

What is the difference between a Visit, a View, and a HIT?

Imagine that you've stopped in at a new bookstore. When you walk into the bookstore, this is your first visit. As you look around the bookshelves, you pick up three books to take to the coffee shop. You get your latte and sit down and look through the books. You flipped through, or viewed, forty pages and read four articles and looked at all the pictures. Each time you view a different article or picture is considered a hit.

Here's the tally: 1 visit to the store to view 3 books to read 44 articles = 44 hits

COST

How much does it cost to publish a book?

The cost of a book is based on a) book size, b) page count, c) b/w or color content, d) the number of books that you want to have printed, and e) where you will have your books printed.

BOOK DESIGN

What tool should I use to make my book?

It depends on what level of skill you have and the type of software that you have access to. If you can use Adobe InDesign, this is the product that I recommend. It has a medium learning curve but if you are comfortable with layers, you'll probably be comfortable with InDesign

ISBN NUMBER
Where do I get an ISBN number?
Bowker is the only broker of ISBN numbers. All ISBN numbers must be purchased from Bowker.
A single ISBN number is $125.00 and can only be used on one book for publication.http://www.bowker.com/en-US/

ISBN IMAGE

Will Bowker give me the number and the image for the book?

No. You must have a software tool to create the code and then have the image prepared for the back of the book. Do not take this project on alone if you do not have experience with GS1 codes.

PRINTING

Where should I have my book printed?

Book printing for self-publishing depends on the services that are offered with the printing. Will your book be on Amazon? How does the printer color correct? What is their return rate?

FONT

What font should I use for the content in a book?

This decision is entirely optional ALTHOUGH the typeface that is best for the reader is the font that you should consider for type text.

REFERENCES
What references should I use for my writing?
The task of writing has always come with the struggle to forms sentences correctly and clearly for the reader. Every writer has his or her own regard for the "best" desk (or desktop) references to use. Here are a few that I like and I hope you enjoy them.references.html
